7 Spray Tan Tips By: Kelly Summers November 15, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — oasisdayspa @ 12:57 pm

ForeverSunnieWhen getting a spray tan – there are many things we can do to improve the way that the self-tanner adheres to the skin, or even improve how long the tan lasts! Here are some tips that will help first time tanners get an even tan that will withstand.

First, before the tanning appointment it is important to exfoliate the skin. This means, that a light scrub should be used all over the body that has texture within the wash. The most common ingredients that create these textures are salt, sugar and sand. When using the exfoliant, scrub lightly to remove dead skin. The fresh skin layer that is left will create an even glow that lasts.

Take off any jewelry or white clothing that could leave visible tan lines. Be sure to remove all jewelry before entering the tanning booth. Although the tanning solution will not harm jewelry, it could leave unsightly marks on the person tanning. Better safe than streaky!

Directly after the tan it is important to remove any excess solution from the bottom of the feet, or the palms of the hands. Wet wipes are provided at most tanning salons that are enabled with spray tans. Use these on the tops of the feet, as well as the tops of the hands as well, to ensure that no spots are evident. Be quick, the solution dries fast, and the last thing that tanner’s want is evidence of their faux glow!

After tanning, it is important to wait for to six hours to have a shower. Showering before this time is up could lead to the tan being washed from the skin. Did you know that lotions and oils can decrease the effect, as they block the skin? Refrain from lotions containing high levels of oils before spray tanning, for the best glow.

Want a darker tan? Darker tans are the result of the solution being exposed to the skin for a longer period of time. For this reason, the excess moisture should be allowed to dry on the skin, rather than being toweled off. While it is drying, use the provided wipes to clean any areas which you do not want the excess tan.

While maintaining the tan it is important to refrain from long showers or long hot baths. You see, these practices cause the skin to exfoliate. With spray tans, the top layer of the skin maintains the color, hence the temporary effect. When long showers or hot baths are taken, than the skin will regenerate itself, causing the spray tan to fade. Not only water, but soaps can also cause the tan to fade – be sure to use mild soaps, with warm water and no exfoliant to ensure a lasting glow.

Using these tips, a spray tan should last at least five days – just long enough for your important event or date. Be sure to tan the day before the event, ensuring enough time for the skin to adjust, and to be able to shower again.

The Alternative To Sun Tanning is A Spray Tan November 15, 2009

ForeverSunnieWith more and more of us understanding the serious consequences of suntanning, we are looking for alternatives. One of the most interesting and improved alternatives is to get a spray tan.

Do any of you remember the first self tanners that hit the shelves many years ago – wella you became instant orange. Well we’ve come along way babe! The hottest thing to hit the beauty seen is “spray tanning.” You really need to check out what’s available these days!

Spray tan in a can is the latest in sunless tanning technology. Forget lotions or pump sprays that leave uneven tones. Although lotions have come along way from the carrot orange days, some can still leave you with orange under tones. Aerosol tanning sprays can leave you with a perfect looking, no hassle, even tan. Spray tan in a can is the safest, easiest way to get a perfect sunless tan at home! No more harmful UV rays or trips to the tanning bed.

You will want to find a reputable shop. Ask around, word of mouth is always a good way to find out what salon does the best spray tanning. Once you’ve chosen a salon book your appointment. If your planning to have a spray tan for a special event, say like your wedding, then I would suggest a trial run about a month prior. If you like the results you can book again, if you don’t then I suggest trying another salon.

On the day of your appointment shower and exfoliate. Use a loofah and shower gel and body scrub to remove all your dry/dead skin. This will ensure an even application.

At the salon they will give you instructions, often these instructions are in the form of the video. The whole procedure and what you need to do will be explained to you.. Some important things to remember: 1. hold your breath when the spray is going off (for about 14 seconds and its very challenging)

2. follow the instructions “exactly” as to where to apply the lotion to block the spray on your feet and hands. You need to block the spray from your hands and feet because these areas have excess wrinkles and creases, so if they are sprayed you will get a tell-tale white veiny looking areas in the creases.

3. when the spray stops you need to turn around

4. when you leave the spray booth you will be given towels to wipe down and remove any excess spray. Make sure you wipe not blot.

The color from your spray tan will last anywhere from 7-10 days. The treatments are still a bit on the pricey side at around $40.00 a treatment, so this isn’t something you get done on a regular basis, more like a treat or for a special occasion. Some companies sell packages that give you a reduced rate.

It is important to apply plenty of moisturizer on a regular basis to the extent the life of your Spray on Sun Tan. If you have very dry skin use a deep moisturizer. Blend any moisturizer into the skin and do not wipe it off as this will remove some of your spray tan. Baths, spas and swimming in chlorinated pools will reduce the life of your tan.

Tips for spray tanning… 1. All the spray tanning in the world will do you no good if it attaches itself to dead skin that is about to come off your body so be sure to Exfoliate! Use a loofah sponge in the bath the night before you spray tan session to remove these dead skin cells.

2. Choose your clothes carefully. Pick clothes that cover all the parts of your body you won’t be tanning. Select tight fitting clothes so that the tan spray cannot go under your sleeves. Choose dark colored clothes, since spray tanners will stain clothing.

3. Follow the instructions! Provided by the Salon. Self-tanning booths typically have a handout, so read up, and make sure you know what to do!

4. For 30-60 seconds after a self-tanning booth application you need to Stand still. This will ensure that your tan dries evenly. Although it does take longer than 30 seconds for your spray tan to dry completely, the first minute or more is when you run a real risk of rubbing off the self-tanner before it has a chance to work.

5. After your spray tan application you will need to Blot your skin with a towel to catch any drips. 6. Because your feet normally get less sun than the rest of you, your feet are paler and may get dark faster, so it is important to Protect your feet. If you are spraying yourself, go lightly on the feet. If you are using a salon use the paper booties that are provided to protect your feet. You can later apply a self tanner to your feet to give them the appropriate amount of color.

If you’ve got a special event coming up, perhaps a wedding, prom, or a re-union, spray tanning might be something you’ll want to try. When done correctly it results in a very natural looking tan adding summer color to your pale winter skin.

The 7 Habits Of Highly Healthy People. By: AdrianAdams November 14, 2009

ForeverSunnieThere are many conflicting theories as to what the experts consider to be healthy. There are multiple different approaches to living a healthy lifestyle. However, all healthy people do have one thing in common. They have formed positive habits that result in their optimum health level. Let’s look at some of these habits a little closer.

Habit 1: Probably the most important habit that highly healthy people have developed is regular exercise. There are many different schools of thought on this subject as well. How much is enough? As a basic rule, any amount of exercise is better than none. Therefore, if you aren’t currently exercising, start out lightly. Don’t try to run the Boston Marathon tomorrow after reading this. No one wants to go to the gym for a grueling, four hour workout. Anyone can fit 20 minutes of exercise in, though. If you exercise for 20 minutes, at least 3-5 times per week, you’ll be healthier than most of the population. If you can eventually bump that up to an hour per day you’ll be doing great.

What type of exercise should you engage in? There are countless exercises that you can engage in that will greatly benefit you. Probably the most convenient forms are walking and jogging. You can do these two pretty much anywhere. Even if you don’t have a treadmill, just go outside. Besides aerobic exercise, a weight training routine is ideal. Developing muscle helps boost your metabolism and keeps everything running smoothly.

Habit 2: Another factor to a healthy lifestyle is drinking water. This may seem simple, but it is so important. The benefits of drinking water have been proven time and time again. It keeps everything working properly and it actually makes you feel better. After you start exercising, you’ll probably want to drink even more water. If you feel sluggish and tired all of the time, there’s a good chance that you’re dehydrated. Drinking six, eight-ounce glasses per day is great. These two habits are obvious, but two of the most important.

Habit 3: Eating right is a very important part of a healthy lifestyle. Now according to many of today’s marketing ploys, you could be eating anything and it’s considered ‘healthy’. Low-fat, low-carb, no-carb – what’s the best. Well, I think if you just use common sense, you’ll know what a healthy diet is. If you can, shop at the natural food store, as this is usually the healthiest food. Stick to the food guide pyramid and get some variety.

One of the biggest factors is how often you eat. All of our lives we’ve been taught to eat three big meals. However, recent studies have shown that this isn’t necessarily best for us. If you can, try eating 4-6 smaller meals throughout the day. This keeps your metabolism working constantly and will burn more calories. This approach is pretty obvious when you think about it.

When you only eat big portions a few times per day, your body thinks it will be awhile until it gets food again. Therefore, it stores some of the food away for a rainy day. If you eat more frequently, your body thinks more food will be coming soon. Less fat is stored as a result of this. So in summary, eat your meat, dairy, grains, fruits and vegetables and eat them frequently.

Habit 4: Another habit that healthy people perform is taking supplements. Vitamins can give you that extra boost that you don’t get through your diet. Chances are, even if you’re trying to eat healthy, you miss something that you need. A good multivitamin will solve that.

Habit 5: Healthy people generally get a good amount of sleep every night. Your body was designed to rest every night. It will work better for you if you let it. Six to eight hours is optimal. When you go to sleep, clear your mind of everything else. A busy mind will keep you awake and not let you sleep as deeply. Just try to forget the day and rest. You’ll feel much better.

Habit 6: Another habit that healthy people have in common is good hygiene. This may seem like a given, but it should not be ignored. Having good oral health contributes to your overall health as well. So listen to the dentist and brush at least twice a day. Don’t forget to floss, either.

Habit 7: One habit that nearly all highly healthy people have in common is their attitude. Good mental health is synonymous with good physical health. You can’t be depressed all the time and be healthy. Control your attitude and control your health. Try to put some of these habits into your routine. You’ll be glad you did.

Conquer Your Depression Today. By: tonystai November 14, 2009

ForeverSunnieDepression is a crippling disease, not just for the person inflicted but also for everyone that cares and loves them. Learn to manage your depression today by using techniques that over time will allow you to conquer your depression on your terms.

This article will cover the groups that depression affects, the signs of depression and some potential techniques for coping. Recognizing that you have depression will set you on the road to managing depression.
Depression really has no age boundaries. Young children starting at age 5 have been found to have depression due to environmental influences. Influences such as divorce, domestic violence, and social rejection are very common in the world today. Teen depression is becoming an epidemic over the last 20 years with teenage suicide being the end result of not receiving treatment. Children and teens often lack the ability to recognize the signs and need to rely on attentive parents to help diagnose the symptoms of depression.

Adults often become depressed from the stresses and anxieties of daily work life and pressures of home life. Adults are much more likely to recognize their symptoms and seek treatment before it becomes a major problem.

Finally, the elderly become depressed for very different reasons. The thought of dying is in itself a depressing thought for most people and as you age you think about it more and more. It is part of your life as those you love begin passing away before you do. Poor health is also a major contributor to depression in the elderly.

For most people, the signs of depression can be easily detected by others that have contact with you on a daily basis. You may begin to lose interest in your job, your relationships with family and friends and in your personal life. You may feel miserable or frustrated inwardly as well as outwardly towards others. Often times there is no apparent reason for these feelings.

Other symptoms of depression include constant negative thoughts, constant fear, feeling lonely and dull even when surrounded by others. And most obviously, any thoughts about committing suicide are sure signs that something is wrong.

Remember, as you review the symptoms of depression above, that having these feelings during appropriate times is perfectly normal (except suicidal thoughts). Death of family member, or loss of job or even a painful breakup can all cause these feelings temporarily. But when these symptoms move from temporary to permanent then something must be done.

Free yourself from bitterness and hatred each day. Avoid going to bed with annoyed and irritable feelings against people you have had a misunderstanding with. Eliminate hatred from your heart and mind. Release all anxieties, tension, and anger on a daily basis.

Another technique is to look for something that you can bring about for another person. If possible, do a nice deed each day. Stretch out to anyone in need. Most importantly, don’t expect recognition because that is not why you are doing it. You are doing it to make yourself feel better not for recognition.

Depression is a mental illness that is normally treatable without medication but requires a commitment to take action to lead a lifestyle free of the triggers of depression. Remember that depression will not only ruin your life but it also negatively impacts the lives of the people around you. If you won’t take action for yourself then take action for those that love you most.

How to Remove Cellulite November 14, 2009

ForeverSunnieMost women are under the impression that cellulite is irreversible and therefore they put up with the appearance of cellulite because they don’t believe any treatments exist for the removal of cellulite.

They are wrong.

Removing cellulite is quite simple, however it is not just a one step process in removing cellulite, there are a few steps involved in eliminating cellulite which has built up over the years.

Cellulite is the build up of toxins in the body’s system.

These toxins are consumed through preservatives, flavours, colours, and alcohol in our diets. Stress and hormonal imbalances can also be contributing factors to the toxins in our bodies.

Reducing cellulite involves the breaking down and flushing out of these toxins from our bodies. Steps involving the breaking down and flushing out of toxins which contribute to cellulite include body brushing, drinking plenty of water and herbal teas, leg exercises such as squats and leg raises, and applying a good cellulite cream.

It is not a matter of carrying out just one of these steps to get rid of cellulite, such as applying a cellulite cream every day, as this just won’t budge the cellulite. Some women have purchased a range of ‘best’ cellulite creams hoping that they will do the trick to remove their unwanted cellulite, however not even the most expensive cellulite product on the market will have the effect of removing cellulite on its own.

Dry body brushing helps to promote good blood circulation which will help to move the toxins from your body, cellulite creams will not be able to increase your blood circulation.

In the meantime, while you’re waiting to remove cellulite from your thighs and buttocks, try applying a self tanning product to mask the appearance of cellulite.
